MOSCOW – The Kremlin is negative about the extension of European sanctions against Russia, calling them illegitimate, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

“It [attitude] is traditionally negative. We still disagree with these sanctions,” Peskov told reporters.

“We do not consider them legitimate. Moreover, we view these sanctions as inflicting damage not only on us, but also to the countries that initiated them,” Peskov said.

The Council of the European Union on June 19 decided to prolong for another year, until June 23, 2018, the restrictive measures against Russia for Crimea.
