The information disseminated in the media by Transparency International Board Head Jose Ugaz regarding the alleged absence of inquiry in Ukraine into former president Viktor Yanukovych is untrue and misleading, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reported.

“Moreover, such statements cannot but surprise me, considering that Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko during a speech on May 22, 2017 at an event organized by the anti-corruption organization Transparency International Ukraine, responding to a question by Jose Ugaz said that the investigators of the organized crime department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine is holding an investigation into a number of criminal proceedings featuring Yanukovych,” the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported on May 23.
