Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has confirmed halting investigation of allegations of alleged criminal acts committed by Movement of New Forces and ex-Georgia President Mikheil Saakashvili, PGO spokesman Andriy Lysenko said on Facebook.

Lysenko said the PGO on March 6, 2018, sent a request to the Netherlands to provide international legal assistance for carrying out procedural and investigative actions involving Saakashvili.

“Thus, this criminal proceeding was suspended on the basis of Article 280 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, in order to limit procedural terms of the pretrial investigation until receiving results of international legal assistance,” Lysenko explained.

Lysenko said the pretrial investigation of criminal case against Saakashvili’s associate Severion Dangadze, who allegedly received money from fugitive Ukrainian businessman Serhiy Kurchenko to support Saakashvili’s anti-government rallies, continues.
