A deputy head of the Kharkiv border detachment, head of the border commandant’s office of rapid response of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, who, according to the investigation, held talks with Russia-backed separatists on occupying a senior position in formations of Russia-backed separatists, has been notified of suspicion in creating a terrorist group and a number of other crimes.

“The detainee was notified of suspicion in committing crimes under Part 1, Article 258-3 (the creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization), Part 3, Article 368 (acceptance of a proposal, promise or receipt of an undue benefit by an official), Part 3, Article 362 (unauthorized actions with information that is processed in computers, automated systems, computer networks or stored on the carriers of such information, committed by a person authorized to access it), Part 1, Article 366 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the media liaisons department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reported.

Earlier, SBU officers, together with the internal security department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine under the procedural leadership of the military prosecutor’s office of the Kharkiv garrison of the Ukrainian Donbas forces, exposed deputy head of the Kharkiv border detachment, who, according to the intelligence service, was negotiating on appointment to a senior position in formations of Russia-backed separatists.

According to a pre-trial investigation, the detainee also organized a scheme for obtaining money from citizens for not including information about crossing the border in the departmental database. As part of opened criminal proceedings, SBU officers documented the receipt of $500 by the deputy head of the Kharkiv border detachment for illegal transfer of a Russian citizen through the border. Law enforcers detained the man near his place of residence.
