Hr 7 billion of the funds seized from the entourage of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has not been used, Deputy Chief of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) Yevhen Yenin has said.

“The use of confiscated funds in the interests of the people of Ukraine is a priority issue for the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine… The implementation of the project to launch Ukrainian ground-based cruise missile capable of striking terrestrial and naval targets), as reported by the Defense Ministry, has been possible at the expense of funds seized by the Prosecutor General’s Office,” he said live on Ukraine’s Channel 5 late on Thursday, February 22.

At the same time, he said that not all funds seized in 2017 had been used properly.

“We are constantly in communication with the government and ministries on ways to use these funds,” Yenin said.

When asked how much of the confiscated funds has yet been used yet, he said: “To date, according to my information, about UAH 7 billion remains unused.”
