Odesa police have established the location and detained the second participant in the attack on activist Serhiy Sternenko in Odesa, an adviser to the head of the Main Directorate of Odesa Region’s National Police Ruslan Forostiak has said on his Facebook page.
He said law enforcers had also established the identity of the deceased, who died as a result of the knife in the stomach inflicted by the activist, as well as the motives of the attack.
Sternenko was taken to the hospital with a concussion and a cut wound.
As earlier reported, late on May 24 Sternenko was attacked not far from his house.
On May 1, unidentified persons tried to kill Sternenko. An unknown man shot him with a gas pistol. The bullet hit the activist in the neck area from behind. Despite the injury, the activist was able to detain the gunman.
Police started criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 15 (attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
