You're reading: Police reports Ukraine’s Avdiyivka under attack again, female resident wounded

Russia-backed separatists on June 13 again attacked residential quarters of the Ukrainian-controlled town of Avdiyivka in Donetsk region, as a result of which a local female resident received a shrapnel wound, the National Police’s main department in Donetsk region has reported.

“The shells that came from the separatist-held areas exploded near a private house on Turgenev Street in the old part of the town. A local resident received a shrapnel wound … Investigators are working on the spot. At 17.35 local time, enemy shells again hit the old part of the town. One of the shells exploded near a house on Turgenev Street, the owners of the dwelling – a 58-year-old woman and her 37-year-old son – were lucky to have escaped injuries,” the department reported on Facebook.

The wounded woman received first aid on the spot.

Police officers working on the scene are documenting the aftermath of the shelling, checking if local residents need any help.

Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act).
