You're reading: Poll shows 70% of Ukrainians trust Zelensky

Some 70 percent of citizens trust President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, as evidenced by a survey conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation.

“Zelensky’s “honeymoon” continues. Newly elected President Volodymyr Zelensky now has the trust of 70 percent of citizens. Not a single president in the history of Ukraine had such confidence, Yushchenko had over 50 percent… This is the highest result,” said Foundation Director Iryna Bekeshkina at a poll presentation in Kyiv on August 28.

According to her, the study shows that members of the Zelensky team, Dmytro Razumkov and Andriy Bohdan, who have a positive balance among political leaders, whose balance of trust is +25 and +5, respectively

“As for the other leaders of the political forces that are members of the Verkhovna Rada, they have a negative trust-distrust balance. Even Svyatoslav Vakarchuk has minus 25. Yuriy Boiko -35, Yulia Tymoshenko – 63 and Petro Poroshenko – 72. This is the balance, that is how much distrust exceeds trust,” said Bekeshkina.

A nationwide study of the public opinion of the population of Ukraine was carried out by the Ilko Kucheriv Foundation for Democratic Initiatives in conjunction with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology from August 8 to August 20. The survey was conducted in 103 settlements in all regions of Ukraine, except for Crimea. In Donetsk and Luhansk regions, surveys were conducted only in territories controlled by Ukraine.

A total of 2,040 respondents were interviewed, who by their characteristics represent the adult population of Ukraine (over 18 years old). The statistical error of the sample does not exceed 2.3 percent.
