If a referendum were held in Ukraine on whether the country should join NATO, 46.1 percent of Ukrainians would support this and 33.4 percent would be against it, as is seen from a public opinion poll of 2,000 respondents that the Gorshenin Institute and the local office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine and Belarus conducted jointly in all regions of Ukraine in May and June 2017.
Another 6.4 percent of the respondents would not come to polling stations, and 14.1 percent were undecided.
The share of respondents supporting Ukraine’s membership in NATO is 76.5 percent in the western part of the country, 29.2 percent in the east, and 21.8 percent in the south.
In the center of Ukraine, 39.1 percent of those polled would favor NATO membership and 41.5 percent are against it.
