Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak emphasizes that citizens of Ukraine should take the decision to join the NATO, and believes in the support of the Ukrainians for this course.
“The president of Ukraine stressed that the decision on Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance should be made solely by the citizens of Ukraine, that is the whole society. And this decision must be enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine. (…) I can assure all that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will fully support the aspiration of people and supreme commander-in-chief on joining NATO,” the minister said at the celebrations on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Ukraine, the Defense Ministry quoted him as saying.
