U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a telephone conversation discussed the situation in the Middle East and the transfer of the U.S. Secretary of State’s visit to Ukraine, the U.S. Department of State reports on its website.

“Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss postponement of his trip to Ukraine. The two discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Secretary appreciated Ukraine’s condemnation of the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Secretary Pompeo reiterated the strong U.S. support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and underscored our long-term strategic partnership,” the report on the website reads.

Information about this telephone conversation is not available on the official website of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

It was planned that Pompeo will visit Ukraine in early January. However, the visit was postponed due to the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East, in particular in Iraq.
