Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said he is confident that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will not allow the use of the territory of his state for unfriendly actions against Ukraine.

“On the northern track, the Kremlin is increasing pressure on Belarus. Although I am confident that President Lukashenko, as he has said to me many times, will not allow the use of his territory for unfriendly actions towards us,” Poroshenko said at a conference of the Ukrainian top brass in Kyiv on Feb. 22.

Poroshenko also said Lukashenko has banned the use of documents of residents of some areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine in the territory of Belarus.

“Having learned from experience, I would advise the Belarusians, like the Baltic states, to be ready for any surprises from Moscow,” the Ukrainian president said.
