You're reading: Poroshenko calls on China to adhere to non-recognition of occupation of Ukraine’s Crimea by Russia

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Ma Kai in Kyiv and called on the Chinese authorities to adhere to the policy of non-recognition of occupation of Ukraine’s Crimea by Russia.

“The Head of State drew attention to the importance of China’s adhering to the consistent position of respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. He urged the Chinese authorities to adhere to the policy of non-recognition of the temporary occupation of the Ukrainian Crimea by Russia. He is also hopeful for the constructive position of the Chinese side regarding the Ukrainian issues within the UN,” the press service of the presidential administration has said.

Poroshenko positively evaluated the results of the third session of the Ukraine-China Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation held pursuant to the agreements reached with President of China Xi Jinping.

“Ukraine’s interest in the implementation of China’s initiative ‘One Belt, One Road’ was confirmed, in which the priority is to involve China’s technological capabilities and investments in Ukraine’s transport infrastructure development,” the press service said.

Poroshenko also conveyed an invitation to President of China Xi Jinping to visit Ukraine.
