Baktivschyna Party leader and presidential candidate Yulia Tymoshenko has called for impeaching incumbent President Petro Poroshenko’s predecessors, the Petro Poroshenko Bloc (PPB) has said, adding that it regards her initiative to impeach Poroshenko as part of her election campaign technology.
“We are absolutely calm about this. We understand that this is part of the election campaign, and society should take it calmly,” said PPB deputy head Serhiy Berezenko in parliament on Feb. 26.
He said Tymoshenko also called for impeaching previous presidents Leonid Kuchma, Viktor Yushchenko and Viktor Yanukovych.
“If you trace the political history of Yulia Volodymyrivna (Tymoshenko), you will see that from the moment of her arrival on the political arena there has not been a single president of Ukraine whom she has not called to be impeached,” he said.
“The initiative to create a commission of inquiry with a question of impeachment of the current president is an integral electoral technology of the headquarters of Yulia Volodymyrivna. Therefore, we are taking it in stride,” he said.
Berezenko said Batkivschyna Party lawyers should study the procedure for impeachment more carefully.
