Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has congratulated Ukrainians on Embroidery Day.
“At all times the skill of embroidering shirts in Ukrainian families passed from mothers to daughters, which symbolized the unity of generations and the unity of the whole people,” the head of state wrote on his Facebook page on May 17.
Poroshenko published a family video with a selection of photographs of his family.
He also added that his family honors the traditions associated with the national dress, passing them to the children.
“Let an embroidered shirt remain a symbol of purity, a symbol of generation and love for your land, your homeland,” Poroshenko said.
