Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said Ukraine and Georgia will fight to the end to restore their territorial integrity.

“Ukraine will do its utmost to ensure Georgia’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. There is no line of contact here, it’s not even the line of occupation, it’s a gap between the past and the future… and this is the result of Russia’s policy… What we see (behind the barbed wire) is tears in people’s eyes, humanitarian catastrophe. We see a situation where people do not have elementary social rights, and most importantly, they have absolutely no hope,” the Ukrainian president told reporters during his visit to Odzisi village located on the border with South Ossetia (the broadcast was conducted by the 112.ua TV channel.

At the same time, Poroshenko stressed that the way for de-occupation of the territory is political and diplomatic.

“We need unity and solidarity with Georgia, I believe that today the world is united, Russia remains isolated, Russia should take steps to de-occupation of Ukrainian and Georgian territory,” he said.
