You're reading: Poroshenko on EPP summit: Sides pledge speedy resolution of key issues for Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that during the meetings within the framework of the European People’s Party (EPP) summit the parties assured in an early resolution of the issues of introducing a visa-free regime with the European Union for Ukrainians, ratifying the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU and providing macro-financial assistance.

“The president said that the issue of Ukraine is one of the most important issues for Europe and it was evidenced by the speech of many leaders. In particular, the German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel attracted the attention of the whole party to the important role of Ukraine for Europe,” the press service of the president of Ukraine said following the results of the EPP summit and its bilateral meetings.

Poroshenko said that during the meetings within the framework of the EPP summit three key issues for Ukraine were discussed: consideration of the issue of introducing a visa-free regime for Ukrainians in the European Parliament, the completion of the issue of ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement and granting macro finance assistance to Ukraine. He said that all the interlocutors assured that these issues would be resolved in the near future.
