You're reading: Poroshenko expresses gratitude to IMF director for tranche

The President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, in a telephone conversation thanked Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde for her personal contribution to the positive decision to allocate the next IMF tranche of $1 billion to Ukraine.

The interlocutors discussed the implementation of structural reforms, particularly the judicial one, the intensification of struggle against corruption and the fulfillment of the tax reform, the presidential press service said.

Lagarde reiterated support to the efforts of the authorities aimed to maintain macro-financial stability of the state and ensure further progress of Ukraine on the track of necessary reforms. The IMF managing director particularly noted high professionalism of Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriya Gontareva and her contribution to the fruitful cooperation with international financial organizations.

Lagarde also praised the launch of the open electronic register of VAT refund in Ukraine.
