Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has congratulated Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the 70th anniversary of the country’s independence.

“I am happy to note that Ukraine and Israel, united by a common history and strong inter-human ties, managed to establish special partnership and interstate relations based on mutual respect and trust. Our state is interested in the further development of fruitful bilateral cooperation in various fields of mutual interest,” Poroshenko’s greeting to the president of Israel reads.

Addressing the prime minister of Israel, Ukraine’s president said the relations between the two countries have bright prospects, “especially in light of the upcoming establishment of a free trade area.”

Poroshenko also said he hopes Netanyahu will visit Ukraine soon and counts on continuing the joint work on the development of the Ukrainian-Israeli partnership.
