You're reading: Poroshenko, Groysman, Tusk to take part in Rada meeting marking beginning of Russia’s aggression

A special meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, dedicated to the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, will be held on February 19, that will be attended by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and President of the European Council Donald Tusk, Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Andriy Parubiy has said.

“Regarding our meeting on February 19. It is timed to an important date, which is marked for five years – this is the beginning of Russian aggression … We can make conclusions to show that the Russian Empire is not only a threat to Ukraine, it is a threat to all of Europe, for the whole Euro-Atlantic space,” Parubiy said at a briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

According to him, the meeting will raise the issue of energy security, in particular the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, economic and information security.

Parubiy explained that this meeting would not be traditional since there will be no voting.

“President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will be present, who as commander-in-chief will be able to talk about the defense of Ukraine at that time, and the large-scale threat [of Russian President Vladimir] Putin … And the premier of Ukraine will definitely be present at this meeting,” the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said.

According to him, Chairman of the European Council Donald Tusk will also take part in the meeting. Heads of security agencies of Ukraine were also invited to participate.
