On March 16, the European Parliament will discuss the situation in Crimea occupied by the Russian Federation and concerning Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia, the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s press secretary Svyatoslav Tsegolko has said.

“This president called this ‘another evidence of the solidarity with Ukraine.’ He also expressed the hope for the extension of the EU sanctions against Russia over the occupation of Crimea,” Tsegolko wrote on Facebook on Friday evening.

Meanwhile, a following message appeared on Poroshenko’s official account on Twitter: “I hope for an insightful resolution of the European Parliament and the European Union’s decision on the extension of sanctions against Russia over the occupation of Crimea already next week.”
