The issue of introducing a UN peacekeeping mission in the territories occupied by the Russian Federation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions will be discussed at the Normandy format negotiations, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said.

“We agreed that among the priority items on the agenda during the meeting in the Normandy format, as early as May or early June, the issue of peacekeepers will be definitely raised. And this will be a classic mission, not its ersatz version of Russian origin in the form of escort,” said Poroshenko on the 112.Ukraine TV channel on April 16 evening.

Earlier that day, the president admitted the meeting of the leaders of the Normandy Four (Germany, France, Ukraine, Russia) in June during the celebration of the memorable date of the landing of the participants of the anti-Hitler coalition in Normandy.

As reported, on April 12, Poroshenko met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
