Incumbent President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu have discussed an expected launch of a free trade area between Ukraine and Israel.

“The [two] officials separately noted that an important indicator of the effectiveness of the Ukrainian-Israeli dialogue would be the expected launch of the Free Trade Agreement, which would open new business opportunities, stimulate job creation contributing to the welfare of both nations,” the Ukrainian president’s press service said following a phone call between Poroshenko and Netanyahu.

Netanyahu commended Poroshenko’s contribution to the strengthening of Ukrainian-Israeli relations and noted the high level of democratic standards of the recent presidential elections in Ukraine. Poroshenko was running for a new term but was defeated by his rival, Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
