Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will in the next few days put forward an initiative on the transfer of St. Andrew’s Church to permanent use by the Ecumenical Patriarch, the head of state’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Bloc of Petro Poroshenko MP Iryna Lutsenko, has said.

“The president supports the desire to receive a tomos as soon as possible. As a sign of solidarity with this process, he makes a symbolic gesture. In the coming days, a bill will be registered, in which President Poroshenko proposes that St. Andrew Church be passed for permanent use to the Ecumenical Patriarch as a symbolic gesture that St. Andrew once baptized Ukraine,” Lutsenko said at a meeting of the parliament’s conciliatory council of leaders of factions, committees and groups on October 16.
