Payments to servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will increase by at least 35 percent in the next year, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said.

“The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, when approving the military budget for 2019, supported my proposal to increase the payment for Ukrainian soldiers by 35-37 percent,” Poroshenko said during a meeting with the commanders of the brigades (regiments) of the Armed Forces, the National Guard and the State Border Service of Ukraine in Khmelnytsky region on Thursday.

He also noted that in the draft state budget for 2019, it is supposed to allocate more than UAH 101.5 billion to the Ministry of Defense.
