You're reading: Poroshenko: Poll on voting day is desecration of Constitution

Fifth president of Ukraine, Leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko believes that the national poll initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky on the day of voting in local elections, on Oct. 25, is a violation of the Constitution of Ukraine and a fraud.

“Conducting the ‘poll’ on voting day is a desecration of the Constitution of Ukraine, European and international electoral standards. This is cheating,” Poroshenko said in Rivne on Oct. 16.

He said that the political forces that undermine the European future of Ukraine in parliament are “Zelensky’s party, the pro-Russian fifth column the Opposition Platform – For Life party and the For the Future political project,” created in the interests of oligarch Kolomoisky.”

“Among those political forces that by their voting harmed visa-free travel and undermined the European course of Ukraine, there was a party with such a beautiful name “For the Future.” It spares no money on advertising. For whose future is it fighting? For the future of Kolomoisky. On whose television channels? Kolomoisky’s channels. For whose money have they now sealed the whole country? Not for Kolomoisky’s money, but for the money of PrivatBank depositors, for money from Ukrnafta. For the more than $5 billion that he withdrew from the bank, and the government should compensate people at the expense of taxpayers. We put an end to this pump, which downloaded money from Ukraine. Now all over the world, criminal cases and courts have been opened. He is wanted for fraud and money laundering. Only in Ukraine he was forgiven everything. Only in Ukraine he filed a case in court to return PrivatBank to him. This is done under the protection and cover of Zelensky,” Poroshenko said.

He alsosaid that Zelensky’s “initiative” regarding life imprisonment for corrupt officials should primarily concern “his oligarch partner.”

“We are very worried about the anti-Western and anti-European rhetoric ‘For the Future.’ Imagine that yesterday the formal leader of this ‘future’ Palytsia, Kolomoisky’s junior partner, agreed that Ukraine does not need a visa-free regime. They want to deprive us of Western support,” the leader of the European Solidarity party said.

He also said about Kolomoisky’s scandalous interview with the New York Times, in which the oligarch said that Ukraine should abandon cooperation with the IMF and the EU and take money from Russian President Vladimir Putin, and blood spilled in war, in his opinion, “will be forgotten.”

“We must do everything to prevent them from forgetting, for which Ukraine spilled blood for six years. Do you want to entrust your future and the future of your children to those politicians who put their soul and body in Kolomoisky’s pocket?” Poroshenko said.

He also said that questionable manipulative polls that contradict the legislation will not help Zelensky.

“In the President’s Office, someone said that this poll seems to be democracy. This is untrue and manipulation. Just as the big top with dropout artists is not high art, the poll from Zelensky is not democracy,” the politician said.

“The time has come when the authorities should not ask questions, but bear responsibility. Not ask, but answer, both about the costs of the coronavirus fund, and about other things that have been done in a year and a half,” Poroshenko said.
