Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko guarantees the irreversibility of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine and promises to apply for membership in the European Union and receive a NATO membership action plan (MAP) no later than 2023.

“I see that my strategic mission is to guarantee the irreversibility of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. No later than 2023 [Ukraine should] apply for membership in the European Union and receive a NATO membership action plan. This is our common task,” Poroshenko said in his speech during a special parliament meeting in Kyiv on Feb. 19.

“But fulfilling this mission, I swear that I will abide by the Constitution of Ukraine, including those of its new provisions which I propose to sign [into law] right here,” the president added.

He also emphasized that no other state has paid such a high price Ukraine has been paying for its European choice.
