You're reading: Poroshenko: Russia can’t be trusted

Leader of the European Solidarity Party, fifth President of Ukraine (2014-2019) Petro Poroshenko has said that the “red lines” which were determined before the Normandy Format summit became a talisman for Ukraine, however there is no reason for euphoria.

“The red lines, which were determined by the society, became a real talisman for Ukraine at the Normandy Format summit. I am grateful to each Ukrainian who found time to demonstrate his or her responsible civil position in Kyiv and other cities before (the summit in) Paris,” he wrote on Facebook on Dec. 10.

At the same time, Poroshenko emphasized that there is no reason for euphoria as, in his opinion, the meeting showed that Russia can’t be trusted.

“It seems that (President of Russia Vladimir) Putin was interested only in the gas issue. I am stressing once again that the refusal from filing lawsuits against Gazprom and return to Russia’s gas hook is a big threat. In the next weeks the fight against this threat will come to the front,” Poroshenko said.
