President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that he coordinated with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron actions on the holding of a meeting of the Normandy format in the near future, which is likely to be held in Paris.

“Putin will meet with Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron on May 18 and May 23. We clearly agreed and coordinated those steps, the agenda that we must perform in order to hold a meeting of the Normandy format in the near future. Probably, it can take place in Paris,” Poroshenko told reporters in Aachen on Thursday after talks with Merkel and Macron.

He also noted that humanitarian issues were discussed at the meeting with the leaders of Germany and France, in particular the issue of hostages who are illegally detained in the occupied territories, including Ukrainian servicemen, and political prisoners who are unlawfully held in Russia.

“Surnames were clearly named,” Poroshenko added.
