You're reading: Poroshenko says Donbas law doesn’t contradict Minsk accords

The law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada “On the peculiarities of the state policy on ensuring Ukraine’s state sovereignty in the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions” does not contradict the Minsk accords, Kyiv respects all its international obligations, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.

“I want to emphasize that neither the spirit nor the letter of this law contradicts the Minsk agreements, as Moscow wants to present it. Unlike Russia, which seeks any excuse not to execute them, Ukraine steadfastly observes and will comply with all its international obligations,” he said during a festive meeting on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Unity and the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Ukrainian People’s Republic in Kyiv on Jan. 22.
