Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has declared his readiness to back proposals of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine as for the prolongation of a number of restrictive measures introduced during martial law in 10 Ukrainian regions.

“All the measures [by border guards] were absolutely justified, and I ask Petro Oleksandrovych [Tsyhykal, the head of the State Border Guard Service] to introduce proposals for the continuation of those activities that are not directly related to martial law. And if you determine the need to continue the measures, I’m as president and – I’m sure – members of the NSDC [National Security and Defense Council] will support your proposals,” the president said at a NSDC meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.

As reported, Border Guard Service chief Petro Tsyhykal said on November 30 that his agency had tightened control on the border and restricted the entry of Russian male citizens aged 16 to 60 into the country.

NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov earlier said that the restrictions for male citizens from Russia may remain in force even after the end of martial law.
