Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has stressed that creating a favorable investment climate is no less important for Ukraine than strengthening its defense sector.

“Along with the international support and the defense and security sector, the investment climate is a matter of life and death for Ukraine. Ukraine cannot and will not exist only at the expense of tranches from the IMF, the World Bank, the macro-financial assistance from the EU,” he said at a meeting of the National Reforms Council in Kyiv on October 25.

According to the president, the international financial assistance is “a financial cushion for implementation of reforms.” “Our reforms will be judged in terms of the number of direct international investments,” he added.
