You're reading: Poroshenko signs agreement on cooperation with Europol ratified by parliament

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a law, by which the Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement on operative and strategic cooperation between Ukraine and Europol.

According to the press service of the president, the entry into force of this document will deepen Ukraine’s integration into EU policy in the sphere of justice and internal affairs. “The document expands cooperation between Ukraine and the European Police Office in order to support Ukraine and the EU member states in the field of combating and fighting organized crime, terrorism and other forms of international crime,” the report says.

According to the information, it is also about intensifying the exchange of operational information in criminal proceedings and creating opportunities for joint activities to investigate crimes and search for persons involved in the commission of crimes.

The press service said that the document will come into force on the day when the European Police Office send written notification to Ukraine through diplomatic channels about receiving and accepting the message from Ukraine on completion of its domestic ratification procedures.

As reported, on July 12 the Verkhovna Rada ratified the agreement between Ukraine and the European Police Office (Europol) on operational and strategic cooperation.
