President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on mine action in Ukraine.

“Jan. 22, 2019 – Returned with the president’s signature,” the card of the relevant bill posted on the website of the Verkhovna Rada says.

On Dec. 6, 2018, the Verkhovna Rada adopted at the second reading and in general bill on mine action in Ukraine (No. 9080-1).

The law determines the list of objects and subjects of mine action, the order of their creation, the organizational and procedural bases of activity; requirements for experts in the field of mine action and mine clearance; sources of mine action funding.

The law determines the status of territories for mine action needs.

The law comes into force on the day after its publication.
