President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on ensuring the protection of the UEFA intellectual property rights during the holding of the final matches of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Champions League among women of the 2017/2018 season, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on May 22, 2018.
According to the presidential press service, the goal of the law is to determine the system of main measures aimed at creating conditions for ensuring the protection of the UEFA intellectual property rights when holding the final matches of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Champions League among women in the 2017/2018 season in Ukraine, as well as prevent ambush marketing during the finals of the UEFA Champions League 2018.
The law, in particular, defines provisions for the regulation of the UEFA intellectual property, the procedure for the use of objects of intellectual property rights for information purposes, as well as the ways to ensure the protection of UEFA’s commercial rights and interests, the UEFA intellectual property rights during the particular period.
The law comes into force from the date of its publication and loses its force from the day of completion of the period of exclusion (June 1, 2018), except for the item, which introduces administrative responsibility for the selling by an unauthorized person of tickets for the final matches of the UEFA Champions League or the UEFA Champions League among women of the 2017/2018 season, which expires on December 31, 2018.
