President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has expressed confidence that immediately after the second round of elections of the head of the Ukrainian state, the hostages will be released.

“We firmly emphasized that immediately after the completion of the second round of elections, we would maintain the Normandy format at the highest level. And there must be a breakthrough on the release of the hostages – here I have no doubt that this will happen immediately after the elections in a short time,” he said on the “Ukraina” TV channel on April 14 evening.

In addition, Poroshenko noted that Ukraine has the tools to ensure a sustainable cease-fire regime, which should start from April 18.
