Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko in a telephone conversation thanked Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, former President of the European Parliament Martin Schultz for his significant contribution to the issue of a visa-free regime for Ukrainians.

“The head of state thanked Martin Schultz for his significant personal contribution while in the office of the president of the European Parliament into resolving the issue of the introduction of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens,” the Ukrainian president’s press service said on April 10.

As reported, on April 6, the European Parliament voted for the European Union’s granting of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens.

Poroshenko said he expects a positive decision of the EU Council in the coming weeks on granting a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens.
