President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine for the first time ever will be delivering a speech at the UN General Assembly in the coming days on the situation on Ukraine’s territories currently occupied by the Russian Federation.

“In less than a week, I will be delivering a speech in New York from the rostrum of the United Nations General Assembly for the first time reporting on the situation in the occupied territories, demanding protection of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine,” Poroshenko said at celebrations on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the JSC Turboatom in Kharkiv on Feb. 14.

He said that the occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine by the Russian Federation has not only brought numerous sufferings to Ukrainian people, but also significant losses for Ukrainian industry.

“Ukraine has paid a high price for it, the highest [price]—the lives of its heroes,” Poroshenko said.
