You're reading: Poroshenko and Trudeau reaffirm commitment to further deepening of bilateral relations

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has discussed the expansion of economic opportunities, strengthening cooperation in the sphere of security and the further deepening of bilateral relations.

“Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during today’s meeting in the framework of the “Invictus Games” in Toronto, in which Ukrainian servicemen take part for the first time, confirmed strong and lasting ties between Canada and Ukraine and their common commitment to the further deepening of bilateral relations,” reads a statement posted on the presidential website.

Poroshenko and Trudeau underlined that this year, when the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Canada and Ukraine is celebrated, the countries are analyzing important achievements since the last meeting in Kyiv in July 2016.

The officials noted that the entry into force of the Free Trade Area Agreement between Canada and Ukraine is a historical moment of bilateral relations.

“We are striving to work closely together so that the citizens of Canada and Ukraine could take advantage of the agreement as soon as possible,” the sides emphasized.
