Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that Ukraine will cease its participation in the coordinating agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prepare appropriate proposals for recalling Ukrainian representatives.

“We stop participating in the CIS coordination bodies,” he said during a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in Kyiv on May 2.

“We will carefully work through these positions, but Ukraine will no longer participate in any coordinating bodies of the CIS. Please, Pavlo Anatoliyevych (Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin), bring me proposals within a week for the recall of all our representatives from Minsk, from the coordinating bodies of the CIS. At the time when their actions are coordinated by the aggressor country, there is nothing for us there,” the president said.
