President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has urged the European leaders to keep sanctions against Russian aggressor given the non-fulfillment of the Minsk agreements and the absence of any steps that would help establish peace in Ukraine.

“I called on the leaders of Europe to be mobilized, ensure unity and continue sanctions against the Russian Federation because of the absence of any progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements, provision of the stable ceasefire regime and withdrawal of Russian troops and Russian artillery from the Ukrainian territory, to ensure progress in the release of hostages illegally kept in the occupied territories, in the prisons of Russia and in the territory of the occupied Crimea,” he said during the conversation with journalists in Helsinki (Finland) following the congress of the European People’s Party (EPP).

“And I felt a powerful and full support for Ukraine by the European Union,” Poroshenko stated.
