You're reading: President meets freed Ukrainians near Kramatorsk

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met a convoy of buses with Ukrainians, who were freed during the exchange of captives in Donbas on Wednesday.

The meeting was held near Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, and broadcast on Poroshenko’s personal page on Facebook.

“Now everybody will be taken to Kharkiv on helicopters. This is a one-hour flight. In one hour there will be a plane to Kyiv, where your relatives will meet you,” the president said at a meeting with freed Ukrainians in the anti-terrorist operation zone in Donetsk region.

In addition to the Ukrainian president, the meeting was also attended by Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak, Verkhovna Rada First Deputy Speaker Iryna Gerashchenko, who represents Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Valeria Lutkovska, French Ambassador to Ukraine Isabelle Dumont and a representative of the German Embassy in Kyiv.
