You're reading: President’s secretary: Nothing indicates possible change of Defense Minister soon

Press Secretary of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky Serhiy Nykyforov says there are no prerequisites for changing the Minister of Defense of Ukraine in the near future.

“The Defense Minister was with the President as part of the presidential delegation, which was now flying to the east. Frankly speaking, nothing indicates that a change of the Minister of Defense is possible,” Nykyforov said at a briefing following a meeting of the National Security Council and Defense of Ukraine (NSDC) on October 15, answering a question of when the rotation of the head of the Ukrainian defense department is possible and whether the president is recruiting personnel for this position.

Currently, the post of Defense Minister is held by Andriy Taran. The Verkhovna Rada supported his appointment on the proposal of Zelensky on March 4, 2020.
