You're reading: Primary registration of electric vehicles in Ukraine retains 50 percent growth in first 6 months

The primary registration of electric vehicles (new and used vehicles) in Ukraine in January-June 2018 increased by 50 percent compared to the same period last year, to 1,915 vehicles, the Ukrautoprom Association has reported.

As was the case before, the share of used cars was 85 percent of the total number of electric cars registered in the first half of the year.

The Nissan Leaf remains the most popular make in Ukraine: 1,282 cars of this model were registered in Ukraine from January to June 2018. The BMW i3 with 129 cars ranks second in terms of the number of registrations with a 90 percent lag from the leader.

Some 95 Ukrainians chose the Tesla Model S, making it third half in the rating of the electric car market this year. The fourth place belongs to the Mercedes-Benz B Electric Drive (57 registrations), which is followed by the Smart Fortwo with 50 registrations.

The top 10 on the primary market of electric cars in the first half of the year also included: the Tesla Model X (46 cars registered), the Kia Soul EV (37), the Toyota RAV4 EV (33), the Volkswagen e-Golf (31), the Fiat 500е and Hyundai IONIQ (both 26).
