You're reading: Procedure proposed by Russia on return of Ukrainian sailors unacceptable for Ukraine

Head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine Andriy Bohdan emphasizes that the procedure for the return of captive Ukrainian sailors proposed by the Russian Federation is not acceptable for Ukraine, but in the negotiation process the parties can find a compromise without harm to the interests of the Ukrainian state, the presidential press service reports.

“Crimea is Ukraine! We are fighting for the return of Crimea under our jurisdiction. In addition to the procedure proposed by the Russian Federation, which is not acceptable to Ukraine, there are other procedures. In the negotiation process, one can reach a compromise and return our citizens to Ukraine,” he said, commenting on the letter of President Volodymyr Zelensky to Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman about consideration of the issue of bringing Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin to disciplinary responsibility.

This is due to the fact that Klimkin did not inform the president about the note of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation dated June 25, which concerned the release of Ukrainian sailors, and the response of the Ukrainian side to it.
