Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO), which is part of the international and national investigation groups to investigate the crash of Malaysian Airlines flight МН17, will continue their work on this criminal proceeding, the PGO’s website has said.
“The prosecutor’s office includes seven prosecutors in the international investigation team and 11 prosecutors in the national investigation team. They will continue to work on this criminal proceeding at the Office of the Prosecutor General. This will ensure a high level of professionalism and preserve institutional memory in the investigation of the deaths of 298 passengers Malaysian Airlines flight MH17,” PGO said.
The PGO said procedural leadership in this proceeding is carried out by employees of the new Department for the Supervision of Criminal Proceedings in relation to crimes committed in an armed conflict, which is staffed with prosecutors experienced in investigating war crimes, crimes against humanity and terrorist attacks.
“When making decisions in this criminal proceeding, the Office of the Prosecutor General will remain a reliable international partner and will be in constant communication with foreign colleagues,” the statement said.

As reported, a Malaysian Boeing, flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on flight MH17 was shot down on July 17, 2014, near Donetsk in the zone of armed conflict in the Donbas. All 298 passengers on board died.
Investigation of the causes of the disaster is being conducted by the Joint Investigative Group, which includes representatives of law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia and Malaysia.
Since November 20, the PGO has been legally deprived of investigative functions.
