You're reading: Prosecutor General’s Office names main version of Tymchuk’s death

Kyiv’s Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has said it considers suicide as the main version of the death of member of parliament (People’s Front faction member) Dmytro Tymchuk, the press service of Kyiv’s PGO Nadiia Maksymets has said, according to the Kyiv-based Hromadske ezine.

“Based on the testimony of close persons, the investigation has information that the deceased was recently in a depressed state, and did not leave the house at all the last week, including on the day of his death,” Maksymets said.

According to her, the prosecutor’s office will announce the official version after all investigative actions have been carried out, in particular, interrogations of persons who have information about the cause of death of the deputy and the results of the forensic examinations – in particular, forensic and ballistic.

Also, the press secretary of the metropolitan prosecutor’s office said that on the day of death, June 19, investigators searched Tymchuk’s apartment, seized material evidence, namely, a pistol, a magazine with cartridges and a cartridge case.

As reported, on June 19, Tymchuk died in his apartment in Kyiv. Police opened criminal proceedings upon the death of the Ukrainian MP under the article “premeditated murder” (Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

National Police of Ukraine Chief Serhiy Kniazev said Tymchuk died from a gunshot wound to the head.
