You're reading: Prosecutor’s office asks to take Shtepa under house arrest

KHARKIV – The Ordzhonikidze district court of Kharkiv will continue the hearing on the case of ex-mayor of the town of Sloviansk, Donetsk region, Nelia Shtepa, accused of separatism, on Dec. 18, said lawyer Oleksandr Shadrin.

“Today, the prosecutor’s office filed a petition for house arrest [of Shtepa]. We asked for time to familiarize ourselves with the petition. The court announced a break until Dec. 18,” Shadrin said.

Shtepa was arrested on July 13, 2014. She is charged with committing criminal offenses envisaged by Part 3, Article 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, which resulted in the death of people) and Part 1, Article 258-3 (the creation of a terrorist group or organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
