TBILISI – The Georgian prosecution authorities on Oct. 20 published a detailed account of former President Mikheil Saakashvili’s trip to Georgia from Ukraine.
The statement published on Oct. 20 says that the Vilnius vessel arrived at the Georgian port of Poti from the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk at about 11 p.m. on Sept. 28. A truck with a trailer loaded with dairy products was unloaded from the ship at about one o’clock in the morning on Sept. 29, it said.
Saakashvili, who was hiding in the trailer, climbed into the driver’s cabin on the port’s grounds. “By acting this way, Mikheil Saakashvili illegally crossed Georgia’s state border bypassing the controls,” it said.
At about 2.15 a.m. on Sept. 29, Saakashvili changed vehicles and got into a Mercedes car, it said.
The same morning, Saakashvili and three people helping him reached the village of Tkviri in the Abasha district in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti province, from where he traveled to Batumi on a Ford Transit and then returned to the Abasha district.
Saakashvili reached Tbilisi early on Sept. 30 in the same vehicle with a trailer in which he had previously arrived at the Poti port on board the Vilnius, it said.
