Attitude of Ukrainians to President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk and Verkhovna Rada Chairman Dmytro Razumkov as well as to actions of the head of state, the government and the parliament is getting worse, according to a sociology poll conducted by Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
As of the end of November, 52 percent respondents treat Zelensky positively and 19 percent – negatively. The KIIS noted that the number of those who praised Zelensky reduced during autumn from 73 percent in September to 66 percent in October, 64 percent at the beginning of November and 52 percent at the end of November. Meanwhile, the share of those who criticized the president increased in autumn from 7 percent in September to 9 percent in October, 12 percent at the beginning of November and 19 percent at the end of November.
Some 11 percent respondents treat Honcharuk positively and 25 percent – negatively. The number of those who did not know Honcharuk decreased during autumn from 49 percent in September to 48 percent in October, 40 percent at the beginning of November and 36 percent at the end of November. Meanwhile, the share of those who criticized the prime minister increased in autumn from 9 percent in September to 14 percent in October, 18 percent at the beginning of November and 25 percent at the end of November.
Some 24 percent respondents treat Razumkov positively and 16 percent – negatively at the end of November. The share of those who criticized him significantly increased at the end of November to 16 percent from 9 percent at the beginning of the month.
“Assessment of actions of the Ukrainian president got worse at the end of November as compared with the beginning of the month: the number of those who praised his work reduced by 10 percentage points (from 64 percent to 54 percent) and the number of those who criticized his work increased by 13 percentage points (from 23 percent to 36 percent),” the KIIS said.
Citizens’ attitude to the government’s work also became worse at the end of November as compared with the beginning of the month: the number of those who praised its work reduced by 7 percentage points (from 44 percent to 37 percent) and the number of those who criticized its work increased by 11 percentage points (from 37 percent to 48 percent).
“Attitude to the government has been worsening since October,” the sociologists said.
Ukrainians’ attitude to the parliament’s work also became worse at the end of November as compared with the beginning of the month: the number of those who praised its work reduced by 9 percentage points (from 45 percent percent to 36 percent) and the number of those who criticized its work increased by 12 percentage points (from 40 percent to 52 percent).
“Attitude to the parliament has been worsening since October,” the KIIS said.
The KIIS polled 1,500 respondents aged 18 and older using computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) on November 22-25, 2019. The selection of respondents did not include residents of the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories of Crime, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Some findings obtained in this poll were compared to the findings of the KIIS polls conducted on November 4-7, October 9-11, and September 6-19, 2019. The poll’s margin error does not exceed 3 percent.
